Fgura Utd vs The Revolution 4-4
Fgura United ended its first season in the futsal league with a 4-4 draw versus ‘The Revolution’. This was a do or die match. Our opponents needed a win to end first in the league and secure promotion and Fgura wanted a win at all costs to force a promotion decider with Riviera FC. With this point ‘The Revolution’ have qualified for the playoffs to fight the remaining berth with the runners up of the other two sections. We had Silvano Pace and Twanny Gheiti missing from the usual starting lineup but Clint Ellul made amends for this loss by putting on a fine performance. However our aspirations were severely dented when we had keeper Bianco sent off for blocking a close shot using his arms outside his area of competence. Revolution, who fielded experienced Konrad Sultana and ex- Fathi Boughami in their lineup, took a 2-0 lead with two quick goals in succession, the first through a direct freekick from Sultana and the other through Boughami who scored in style after committing Bianco to the floor. Fgura reduced the arrears from an Ellul fk, but soon after Bianco was given the marching orders for his infringement. Fgura had to play the next two minutes in a numerical disadvantage. Charlo Cutajar and Clint Ellul shared the goalkeeper role for the remaining of the match. Clint Ellul made it 2-2 from a long distance penalty. In the second half The Revs took the lead once again only for this to be cancelled from a Kevin Gatt goal. Late in the game the Revs edged ahead again only to see Clint Ellul spoil their feast with another equalizer.
