Fgura United FC vs Siggiewi 1-2
Fgura lost against Siggiewi, a team strengthened by numerous new signings in these last weeks. Siggiewi thus managed to win their first game in the league. Fgura dominated the first half but only had one goal advantage to show for their superiority when Rodney Galea netted from close distance. This is his first senior goal in the club’s colours. Other attempts at goal by Jason Gauci (twice) and Eric Lia either were saved or just missed the target. In the early stages, Clayton Garzia failed to connect in front of a gaping goal, and the chance went begging.
Siggiewi were a transformed outfit in the initial stages of the second half and equalized from a direct freekick and a few minutes later edged ahead when converting from close range. Fgura’s reaction was belated though they went close when a Felice’s effort was splendidly saved by Cassar in the Siggiewi’s goal. Cassar saved on the ground another attempt from Ellul.
