In a match which at times was played in an agressive tone, Fgura ended the game in a 1-1 draw in a match, which could have gone both ways. All in all Fgura had the most clear cut chances are to consider themselves unlucky when Xghajra's equaliser was netted few minutes from the final whistle.
In the first half scoring chances were scarse with defenses controlling the forwards attempts with ease. In the second half the match got livelier with Fgura creating the best of chances with Matthew Spiteri twice served in the box but his shots were either off target or too central. Robert Plumpton on his debut with the club had two headers missing the target by a whisker. On the other end, Xghajra's chances were thwarted by keeper Farrugia.
Fgura took the lead when Jason Gauci sent inviting cross from the left flank towards Clint Ellul who as he rose to head home was impeded from behind and floored. The referee whistled for the penalty which was converted by Mark Ellul. Xghajra drew level when our defense was caught unbalanced and though Farrugia managed to parry a close range shot, the ball fell to sub Jesmond Azzopardi who deposited in an unguarded net.
