Fgura United registered the third consecutive positive result against a team placed higher up in the table. This time it was leaders Zebbug R who could only manage a 0-0 draw against a resilient side, peppered with match hungry youngsters. In fact 9 of the 18 players on the line up are still Youth players with the most of the rest of the players still in their early twenties. It was a match of few goal scoring opportunities. Fgura were the better team in the early stages but then lost stopper Kevin Cachia who sustained a cut in his upper lip and had to defect the match so that stitches could be applied. Zebbug shared the spoils in the remaining time of the half but both sets of players were not incisive up front. In the second half Zebbug made their presence more felt in our opponents half but could not break our strong defensive wall. The most clear couple of chances in the second half fell to Matthew Spiteri who dribbled well in the box but his shot with his left foot was weak and to central and on young substitute Claudio Pace who advanced on the break but when challenged shot over the bar. All in all it was a deserved draw which leaves the team in a mid table position but still with a slim chance of fighting it out for a play-off position.
