After six consecutive defeats, Fgura registered a 2-0 win victory over neighbours Sta. Lucia to overtake them in the table.

 

Fgura pressed for an opener and squandered a number of chances in the opening minutes. The deadlock was broken when Nicholas Fenech and Abdirahim Osman combined in the box, with the latter sending towards goal with U/12 player Eugenio Abela sliding in to score from close distance.

 

The second goal was a solo effort by Nicholas Fenech who scored when shooting past the goalkeeper on the first post from an acute angle.

 

Sta. Lucia pressed in the second half to reduce the arrears but found Malcolm Psaila in the thick of defense insurmountable, always covering for the men infront of him. Young Buttigieg in goal saved the day on another two occassions. At the other end Fgura had their chances on the break, the most clear when Abdikatir Osman in front of an open goal, putted a weak shot that was cleared off the line in the nick of time.

 

Fgura will face Ghaxaq next Sunday in another bottom of the table clash, hoping to repeat the impressive 6-0 victory of the first round.
