Fgura gave a creditable performance against a much stronger opposition, especially in the physical aspect. Fgura took a 2-0 lead with the wind blowing in their back. The Saints hit the upright in the opening phases but Fgura edged ahead when returning Bongailas found the net from close range. A Nicholas Fenech freekick made it 2-0 but near the end of the half the Lightnings reduced the arrears when their tall center forward positioned on the second post headed home after receiving an inviting cross from the right. In the second half Sta. Venera scored three more goals, one of them coming direct from a free kick and hit the post on another occasion. Towards the end, Fgura too hit the crossbar once again from a Nicholas Fenech direct free kick.
