______________________________________ The Under 16s returned to winning ways on Sunday beating Gzira U 2-0 to register the third victory from four matches. On a very windy afternoon in the new Melita Ground, Fgura, playing the first half against a strong wind, took the lead early in the match when Matthew Caruana resolved a goal mouth scramble resulting from a free kick. Towards the end of the half Gzira pressed for the equalizer and went close but Cain cleared off the line from a direct corner with our keeper caught out of his zone of competence. Soon after another Gzira shot whisked the upright. In the second half, our boys backed by the strong wind, had much more of the play but lacked sharpness and precision. The nervous Gzira outfit were reduced to ten men late in the match and Lydon Vella squandered an easy chance when face to face with the opposing gk. His shot was parried but he soon made amends for this when converting a penalty for a handling offence committed in the box. The team will be facing Marsa the coming weekend.
