Fgura registered their ninth victory of the season out of 16 outings when beating bottom team Mqabba H 3-0. Fgura incredibly scored the match inside 20 seconds when Saffrett put through skipper Lydon Vella who rounded an indecisive keeper to secure an early lead. Despite playing against a fastidious wind, Fgura displayed the best ideas but lacked the finishing touch. Fgura missed a number of easy chances, the most blatant when Lia failed to connect with his head from a few meters away of goal. Saffrett made it 2-0 at the stroke of half time, when James Lagana’ provided him with a telling pass, advanced and beat the keeper.

Vella scored his brace, again on the break, beating the offside trap, advanced and calmly placed the ball beyond the goalkeeper reach.  Saffrett had a close range attempt blocked by the keeper and a good header by Lagana missed the distant upright by a whisker. Deputising goalkeeper Bonnici, was outstanding in saving two freekicks into corners, one in each half. From the resulting corner his good reflexes came again to the fore when turning a close range shot over the bar. He was helped in keeping a clean sheet, when substitute Cristina cleared off the line another Mqabba’s attempt at goal.
