______________________________________ Our lads had to face leaders of the section Pembroke. Pembroke managed to maintain their 100% record when registering their 13 win from as many matches, thanks to this 2-1 win. Fgura had to invent their defensive back line as, three regular players from this department were missing for various reasons. Fgura shared possession with their opponents, although Athleta created the most open of chances which went begging. They took the lead from a freekick, which our defense failed to clear and the ball was lobbed over our keeper. The match continued to be keenly contested even though Pembroke managed to add another in the second half, when on the break, Pembroke’s forward though closely chased by Theuma managed to lob the ball over Bianco to make it 2-0. Fgura admirably continued to fight to enter back in the fray and their reaction in the last 15 minutes was impressive, creating a number of chances. In one of these, Cauchi headed towards goal from a Debattista corner, only for the ball to be stopped on the line. The alert referee noticed a handling infringement and ordered a penalty which was converted by Lydon Vella. Pembroke managed to maintain their slim lead till the end of the match. As the final whistle went off and despite our defeat, both sets of players received commendable comments for their display and effort.
