Fgura had to come up with a makeshift defense for this match as Aaron Lagana’, Kris Abela and Rutger Cutajar were unavailable and Redeemer Briffa and stand-in Keith Smart not in perfect condition.

Our defense where no match for the agile opponents’ forward line in a match in which they created the most clear of chances although our midfield did not give enough cover to them. Senglea took the lead after only two minutes when a shot hit the cross bar and the Senglea forwards were first to react to score the opener. Fgura managed to draw level when Mario Lia headed home from a Vella corner. But in the dying minutes of the first half Senglea took the lead again after catching our defense square following a quick throw in with their forward having the easiest of jobs to score.

Senglea added the third late in the game from a dubious offside position but before this they were unlucky on two occasions when hitting the woodwork. Fgura on the other end squandered a number of free kicks and had other attempts that missed the target.
