The Under 16 continued with their fine season beating neighbours St. Georges 4-0. The scoreline could have been much greater but our players missed a good number of scoring chances in a game dominated for long stretches. Fgura took a 3-0 comfortable lead by the half way stage when first Lydon Vella was tackled in the box and Kris Abela converting the penalty. Alex Cauchi’s long drive caught the goalkeeper by surprise to make it 2-0 and Lydon Vella made it 3-0 with the goal keeper guilty of mishandling the ball. St. George’s reaction was short lived and ended when they suffered the second goal. The fourth goal was scored in the second period when Matthew Caruana resolved a goal mouth scramble with the ball saved by the goalkeeper beyond the fatal line. Ascolese, Vella and Lia had clear cut chances in the first period and our boys hit the woodwork twice in the course of the match. Casaletto could have inflicted more damage when his freekick in the dying seconds of the match was saved with difficulty to a corner by the reserve goalkeeper.
