U/16 Fgura United vs Zejtun C

The Under 16 has faltered against neighbours Zejtun C succumbing to 1-0 scoreline, which result heavily dents promotion aspirations. Fgura deserved something out of this match but one has to congratulate the Corinthians for a resilient performance.

Zejtun took an early lead when two blue’s players were allowed ample space to head home from close distance. Fgura reacted and created some goal opportunities from freekicks from Abela and Casaletto and some runs in open play from Vella who was foiled by the Corinthians goalie.

In the second half in a match played in isolated but heavy downpours, Fgura were more menacing in the second half though they gave some space to the adversaries were  to build their breaks, but Bianco in goal and A.Lagana’ were always on the alert. The introduction of Lia in the match gave the forward line more verve and the boys in red are to be considered unlucky not to salvage a point when Vella’s shot hit the side netting and a fine header from Ascolese was saved by the goalie
