The Under 16’s returned to winning ways in style beating Zurrieq 4-0. The team experimented with some positional changes and played with four in defence unlike the usual five. Our keeper Bianco had also to fill the libero duties coming out of his territory to clear away any danger.

In the opening exchanges Saffrett went close twice and Ascolese shot wide from an ideal position. Fgura took the lead when Vella laid off a ball to Cauchi whose fierce low ball shot deceived the gk who did not manage to keep the ball out with his feet. Ascolese got injured and was substituted by Deguara who immediately left his mark on the match when he flicked the ball with his head on to Caruana, who managed to find space around the keeper and deposit the ball in an empty net.

Vella had an attempt at goal saved to a corner but minutes later made amends when after a collective mood, his good shot was only parried by the keeper with the ball ending behind the back of the extreme defender.

In the second half the rhythm slowed a bit with Fgura still creating the best of chances. In one of these Lia failed to beat the goalkeeper from an ideal position who turned his shot to a corner. From the resulting Vella corner Lia soared in the air to head home. Towards the end Bianco managed to keep a clean sheet when saved a close range shot putting on display his good reflex skills
