Dingli took the lead after just a couple of minutes when Bianco clashed with fellow defender Cauchi when trying to punch away the danger from a cross, the ball falling in the path of a Dingli forward who slammed home. Dingli doubled the score after another defensive blunder. Mangion played a short back pass to Bianco, the Dingli forward capitalized on the error by rounding the keeper and depositing in an empty net. Although sharing the exchanges with their opponents, Fgura were not menacing upfront and only tempted the Dingli keeper with a long distance shot by Cauchi.

In the second half the match continued in the same manner with Dingli exploiting the room made available to them as Fgura tried to reduce the arrears. In one of these breaks Dingli added another goal. Late in the match Fgura had Butterworth sent off, when fouling an opponent with a clear chance of scoring. He will be badly missed in our next decisive match.
