______________________________________ Fgura United have been condemned to Section D Football for the coming season after loosing the fight to safeguard Section C status.
In a direct encounter with fellow relegation battlers, Msida SJ our boys succumbed to a 4-1 defeat.
Msida fielded for the first time during this season their prized 'family jewels' as Tyrone Farrugia already an Under 21 Maltese international and Priso Doding, their Under 23 Cameroonian International from the very first minute. Their intentions were clear. They wanted to retain their status at all costs.
Fgura missing key players such as Mark Sammut and Franklin Seisun, who are sitting out the rest of the season due to injuries, had to do also without suspended Thomas Butterworth.
However our boys had a dream start, when we took an immediate lead when Bordieri headed home a Jason Gauci cross, after the latter combined well with Claudio Pace.
Msida's reaction was expected, and as their two stars began to dictate play in the engine room, Fgura started to defend in numbers, and Bianco' heroics and the crossbar were not enough to help us maintain the slim advantage. In fact when Msida managed to equalize, Doding ran havoc with our defense.
Fgura could have edged infront again but Pace's header over the keeper, went agonisingly inches wide. In the second half Msida exerted more pressura on a tiring Fgura side and it was no surprise that thet secured all three points when managing to find the net on another three occassions.
