This bottom of the table clash ended with Athleta defeating Fgura 4-1. Fgura had fielded an experimental team when seven out of the 12 players on the line up are still under 16 players. In fact five of these made their debut in this category in this final league match.

Fgura were the better side in the first half and backed by the wind had more of the ball possesion. The most clear of chances fell to Vella who after breaking away shot with his weaker left foot and the goal keeper blocked. On the other end Bonnici blocked on the ground in a similar opportunity.

In the second half Pembroke took advantage of our relatively young squad as the team's physical advantage came to the fore. From across from the right Abela sliced the ball, which fell exactly on an opponent's head who lobbed over Bonnici. Inside 10 minutes, Fgura failed to clear away the danger, allowing Pembroke to double the score from close range.

Claudio Pace reduced the arrears after a fine solo run and shooting past the keeper from close range. Bonnici was on hand at the other end with another instinctive save when saving with his feet a close range shot off a crossbar rebound.

Towards the end of the match, two fine efforts from long range gave no chance for our keeper as the ball ended in top corners of the post.
