The Under 19s lost a critical match to fellow relegation battlers to a single goal. Zurrieq deserved the win but are to consider themselves lucky that they bagged the three points when a couple of minutes before they scored Fgura failed to score a penalty, and this with only ten minutes to go.

In the first half Zurrieq went close to score in a number of occasions especially when Bianco managed to save with difficulty with the aid of the upright. In another instance they had a goal disallowed for offside. In the second half the match followed the same pattern but Fgura were more present in the opponent’s half. In fact Refalo almost scored, when his header was saved by the Zurrieq goalie. The same player twice bundled Pace in the area. The first time the referee allowed play to go on but on the second occasion indicated the penalty spot. Bordieri’s central shot was saved by the goalkeeper. With 8 minutes to go, Zurrieq scored what proved to be the winner when the managed to net the ball in a goal mouth scramble. A demoralized Fgura team a few minutes later succumbed to a second goal only for this goal to be ruled offside.
