Although loosing 3-1 to high flying Tarxien R, the progress registered in the team remained visible despite the defeat. In the first round we were hammered 7-1. This time around it was a balanced affair, though Tarxien in the end were worthy winners of the three points.

Tarxien took the lead early in the match when the defense failed to clear a freekick thrown in the box, with the keeper anticipated. Fgura however reaction was immediate and managed to score from a penalty, after a handling offence. The penalty was converted by Mark Sammut. Soon after Franklin Seisun’s curling effort from inside the box hit the crossbar.

Our high hopes were dwindled immediately after the restart when Fgura lost possession from the restart, and Tarxien’s powerful and dangerous forward managed to run around the keeper and deposit in an empty net. Fgura tried to find the equaliser but Tarxien capitalized, thanks to the open spaces left available to them, the third goal coming on the break. Despite the two goal deficit our boys continued to battle it out and the best chance was created by sub Lydon Vella, whose long distance shot was saved to a corner by the keeper.
