Our boys obtained a merited win against a Zebbug side who though having most of the play did not have a solution for our deadly breaks.

 

Young Coleiro was always on the alert in goal with Carabott strong in defence and Cauchi running his socks off on the left flank. In midfield Vella and Ciantar won a considerable amount of balls while Mifsud had the match of his life upfront.

 

Zebbug were very erratic in front of goal while our defense controlled the other goal mouth action. Mifsud and Ciantar got in each other's way with only the keeper to beat but from a Ciantar corner, Mifsud's shot from close range was partially saved by the keeper with the ball falling again to Mifsud who scored in an empty net. Rangers equalised when Fgura were with ten man as Diacono was being medicated outside the pitch but with the equality restored Fgura again edged ahead with Mifsud eluding the offside trap and lobbing over the keeper.

 

In the second half Mifsud squandered a couple of chances but sealed the issue when Coppola's pass put him through, and scored with a good shot with his right foot.
