Under 17:

Fgura Utd. vs Zebbug R. 2-1

Posted on Monday 12th October 2009

With the team mutating once more, a couple of players were unavailable, Mark Azzopardi and Iamin Guarrancino on loan from Paola Hibs making their debut, the boys in red registered their first win of the season.

It was a pity that the referee left much to be desired with the decision taken. Zebbug started well winning the nevralgic sector in midfield. Fgura however were more menacing up front and seemed more likely to score as Zebbug lacked precision in their shooting up front while keeper Daniel Buttigieg was in tip-top form, getting righ almost everything.

Fgura took the lead when Psaila's shot was blocked by the keeper with Caruana netting from close range. Zebbug equalized in a goal mouth scramble with our boys in their attempt to clear from the line, the ball hit our keeper and ended in goal.

In the second half the game continued to be keenly contested with Fgura edging ahead when Hayden Farrugia put through Skipper Psaila who found the net. Zebbug were reduced to ten men and Fgura could have added another but Bongailas' attempt hit the crossbar.

Referee restored equilibrity when sending off Psaila but Fgura managed to keep the slim advantage.
