The Under 19 bagged the three points as expected beating neighbours Sta. Lucia 5-1. We had a dream start as in the early minutes, Claudio Pace was floored in the box and skipper Lydon Vella converting the penalty kick. The same player added another a few minutes later chipping the ball over the keeper in one on one situation. Sta. Lucia reduced the arrears when ex Henderson advanced and scored on the first post. In the first half we hit the woodwork twice; Conrad Cassar hitting the upright and Vella clipping the top of the crossbar from a freekick.

 

Two quick goals in succession in the opening minutes of the second half placed the game out of reach for the Saints; Vella getting his hat trick scoring on the first post after a solo run on the byline and Horace Darmanin, on his season’s debut finding the net, collecting a short clearance. The final goal was scored by Aaron Lagana’ rising high to head home from a corner.
