In a match that caught up rhythm in the second period Gzira United defeated Fgura United 2-0 both goals coming after the break.

 

Fgura had the best scoring opportunities in the first half when Mifsud’s weak shot went straight to the goal keeper and a cross-shot by Cauchi landed on the top part of the cross bar.

 

In the second half with Gzira combining better, were the team more likely to score and with Coleiro saving from close range and Vella clearing off the line on another occasion, the goal seemed to be in the air.

 

In fact 15 minutes from time from a corner kick their player rose high to head home. With Fgura trying to clinch an equalizer, in injury time a swift well crafted counter attack Gzira doubled the score to seal matters.
