Posted on Monday 4th January 2010

In a highly entertaining match which pleased the supporters present ended with these neighbouring teams sharing four goals and bagging a point each. This draw pleased more the teams occupying top places in the table; Pembroke A and Sirens.

Birgu took the lead after just two minutes slotting the ball past Bianco after a short defensive clearing. Briffa equaled the score with an impressive run down the left flank dribbling by the byline and beating the keeper on his first post. Again after two minutes in the second period, Bianco was again beaten by a well taken lob from outside the area. Birgu were reduced to ten men when one of their players was given marching orders for using foul language. Fgura tried to capitalize on their man advantage, though Vittoriosa remained dangerous on the break. However Fgura equalized after a good run by Pace on the right and his telling cross was met by Darmanin following up the action who shot home to the joy of the team. Fgura could have scored again but a swift break went begging.
