The Under 19 lost a chance to continue breathing down the necks of section leaders when succumbing to Gudja Utd. 2-1. Gudja took a 2-0 lead in the first half with two goals in the space of a couple of minutes around the half hour mark; the first when capitalising on a defensive error and finding the net from an acute angle and the second when heading home a freekick. Before this Bianco saved on the ground showing good reflexes while at the other end our attempts were saved with difficulty by the opposing keeper who came to the team's rescue when saving a Vella penalty when Briffa's run was halted by a late tackle in the penalty area. In the second period, Fgura tried to enter back in the match but despite their pressure, scoring chances were not that abundant. Briffa came close but his shot went inches wide. Fgura were awarded anothe penalty after a solo move by Pace, who was grounded. The same player converted from the spot. Gudja could have restored their 2 goal advantage but our defense with the aid of the upright managed to clear the danger in extremis. Vella had the last chance of the match when after leaving his opponent behind, his touch on the ball was too strong and thus giving the keeper the chance to grab the sphere in time.
