Fgura did not manage to record the 1st round result against the 3rd force of the league, Mgarr Utd. After a goaless half Fgura took the lead thanks to a powerful run down the flank by Mazzonello served by Farrugia. Mgarr equalized through a fierce shot from outside the box which gave Buttigieg in goal no chance. In the dying minutes, Mazzonello was floored by the keeper in the penalty area, with the referee allowing play to go on and Caruana scoring a goal which unfortunately was disallowed by the assistant referee who had noticed a pushing infringement in the melee'. This draw result pleased Zejtun C who have now opened a three point lead over Fgura with Mgarr getting further adrift from the top.
