Our boys were a good match for Msida SJ, a team promoted to Section B, in this 2nd round match of the Knock out competition. Msida also included under 21 International Tyronne Farrugia in their starting lineup but the boys in red did not show any inferiority complex despite being the underdogs in this match. In fact Jason Gauci put Fgura ahead, netting even though closely marked. Msida drew level minutes before the break and in the second half increased the pressure on our team although Bianco in goal had only some routine catches to make. Our luck changed 8 minutes from time when substitute Mauro Desira scored in his own net with a thunderous shot in an attempt to clear, giving Bianco no chance. This was the final chapter in a season which saw us competitive till the very end but the much awaited promotion to Section C slipped through our fingers as the team finished third in the league.

 

The committee would like to thank the coach Debrincat in his debut season and our bighearted lads who for the majority of the squad this was the last season in this category. Some of these players already form an integral part of the senior squad and one hope that other valid players which came through the ranks in our nursery follow suit. The club has faith in this group and wishes to start a new cycle with these players forming the backbone of our team in the coming seasons.
