Our boys sprung a major surprise eliminating Fourth Division Section A Champions, Gladiators on penalties after a thrilling match. Gladiators who have in their rank ex Maltese international Michael Degiorgio and two foreign players had to bow out to the saves of Jesmond Lia who saved all but one of the penalties thrown at him.

Fgura fielded Lia in goal, and Fenech, Cassar, Sammut, Vella and Gatt as outfield players. Fgura had a dream start taking a two goal lead thanks to Fenech and Vella. Towards half time and under a heavy downpour Gladiators reduced the arrears. In the second half our opponents drew level but three minutes from time Vella restored the lead only for Degiorgio to equalize in injury time. However at penalties the capabilities of young Lia came to the fore; our players converting all four penalties and Lia saving two out of three. There was no need to take the remaining three kicks as our lead was insurmountable.
